🔄 How Shop Pay Installments Works

Choose Shop Pay at Checkout
Select Shop Pay at checkout. If installments are available for your order, you'll see the option to pay over time.

Apply for Financing Through Affirm
When you choose installments, you're applying for a loan with Affirm. They'll present repayment options (bi-weekly or monthly) based on your location and order amount.

Pick Your Payment Plan
If approved, your purchase is split into scheduled payments. You'll see:
- Your payment schedule
- Amount due for each payment
- Any applicable interest and fees

Pay Over Time with Affirm
Make installment payments directly to Affirm through the Shop app or web browser. View payment guide
📅 Payment Schedules
Available plans depend on your location, order amount, and Affirm's offer. Common options include:
- Bi-weekly payments (every two weeks) – typically available in the US and Canada
- Monthly payments – available in the US, Canada, and UK
⚠️ Important: You can't change the schedule once it's set, but you can make extra or early payments to reduce your balance sooner.
💵 Down Payments
For some orders, Affirm may require an initial payment at checkout. Whether a down payment is required depends on:
- Your location
- Total order value
- Selected installment plan
Any required down payment will be displayed clearly during checkout before you confirm your order.
💰 Interest, Fees & Early Repayment
Your plan may be:
- Interest-free – No interest charged if you pay as agreed
- Interest-bearing – Interest charged at the rate shown during checkout
💡 Save Money: All costs are displayed by Affirm before you confirm. You can pay off your loan early at any time, which can reduce total interest on interest-bearing plans!
✅ Approval & Notifications
After applying for Shop Pay Installments:
- Affirm reviews your application in real-time
- You'll receive an email from shoppay@shop.affirm.com with your decision
- Check your spam folder if you don't see it
- View your payment schedule in the Shop app
- Receive email, SMS, and push notifications before each payment
❌ If Your Application is Declined
If not approved, Affirm will email you with details and next steps. Being declined once doesn't automatically mean you'll be declined for future orders – eligibility is reviewed for each purchase attempt.

View and manage your installment orders with Shop and Affirm:
- Use the Shop app to see orders and payment schedule
- Turn on push notifications for payment reminders
- Make manual or early payments through the app or web
